
In a way, there’s little i can complain about a movie like Jurassic Domination, because i pretty much known what i’m going to get from a modern Asylum mockbuster of a dinosaur film, even down to them not really marketing them anymore so even trash buffs and cinema shit seekers like me end up finding out about them years after they came out, undermining the point of a timely release dor the mockbuster to leech off a big budget tent-pole release, in this case Jurassic World: Dominion.
And yet everytime i come out slightly disappointed because i’d like for The Asylum to at least try more with the plots, since their mockbusters are even more and more detatched from the movies they allegedly exist to profit off indirectly with their bootleg low budget offering, they could try to go utterly insane with the plots if they will never improve budgets and effects to any significant degree, but why would they put any more effort if people still watch their garbage regardless?
They know people like me will start combing the internet for these kind of movies, sooner or later, so why bother? They’re so cheap to be worth it from a financial standpoint regardless, so until the well dries up completely, they won’t stop, and it’s hard to fault them for that when the Jurassic World series exists and the difference between the contenders and the “champions” is how much money they can throw at the fx budget to cover up botched or flawed scripts.
Still, it’s not real excuse for The Asylum using and reusing one of the 3 kinds of dinosaur rampage stories that seem to exist in low budget territory, as in it’s another round of military purposed, laboratory bred enhanced intelligent dinos that escape during a transport mission, predate on what they can find, making the army send in other soldiers/ to retrieve the costly “BOW” before they can spread out, in this case over a sort of military base/city, not the “mountain town” mentioned on the back of the box, which also refer to a sheriff protagonist… that doesn’t exist in the actual film.
Yes, someone at some point says “Clever girl”, in this case because an allosaurus uses a trashcan to undo a tripwire bomb…. which i haven’t seen yet in one of those, so brownie points for that.

Eric Roberts needed money for a PS5 or something so he’s in the movie, playing the evil army general that is monitoring the situation and explains how much buckaroos the dinoweapons are worth, which means he sits in a office chair, talks to people on the phone, and looks like a smug sunnabitch while doing it, pretty par for the course in these Asylum flicks, not as hilarious as Megaboa where he sat in a camping chair the whole movie because his character broke his foot, here he eventually stops sitting on his ass and goes out for a walk in some park… for exposition dialogues, mostly, but still, it’s a lot of him talking to phones regardless.
That said, it’s not awful, at the very least they’re trying to do make the script work, and it does, though the level of acting hasn’t improved much, i mean, you know the deal with an Asylum joint, and these movie haven’t really, noticeably improved, over time, the CG is the same level of quality you’d expected these days, they did improve composition a bit, but they still can’t manage to get the scale of these fuckin dinosaurs right in a consistent manner (still plenty of shots where they fuck up the prospective) and somehow the practical special effects are getting slightly worser, it seems.
Speaking of which, at times i could swear they were wholesale recycling sequences from Triassic Hunt to save even more on the dino CG, that or they reused some of the sets because some shots of the labs-offices-boiler room/contaiment rooms look IDENTICAL.

it’s still better than some of the even lower budgeted (and often way more boring) crap like Dinosaur Hotel, for example, this isn’t awful, this is just the Asylum holding pattern with a baseline of mediocrity (by their own standards), so fairly subpar but not completely unwatchable, even if instantly forgettable and with the usual rushed ending.
