(Mini) One Piece August is coming back, baby!

Yeah, that is pretty self-explanatory, since i’ve done this before, many times, but yeah, we’re back to a (mostly) One Piece exclusive August, as the first half of it, i’m gonna review One Piece media, in this case videogames… though it will have to happen in “redux” form since IRL events and academic endeavours are kicking my ass harder than planned.

So we’re gonna basically look at the One Piece Grand Battle games released westward for PS1 and PS2… and i was gonna do more but it just ain’t happening, as i realized bitterly.

And FIY , this has been planned in mid-January 2025, with the idea of finishing up the collection for One Piece videogames… as in, the ones that were released in Europe or globally, this time around.

Minus the VR one since i still don’t own a PS VR.

Yes, i did review the USA only GBA game simply called One Piece by dimps, and recently i got my mittens on a copy of Fighting For One Piece ( a generous gift from a long time friend, too) and i do have most of the GBA import games and most of the DS and 3DS import releases, but we will do some of those another year.

It’s not like i’m running out of material with One Piece, though i’m still not mad (or unemployed) enough to plan a review of the entire ongoing anime series, and the new one from studio WIT is also coming…

For disclosure, yes, i did review some of these One Piece games years ago, some almost a decade ago (in another language, too), but i’m not calling them rewrites because i’m doing these reviews from scratch, and replaying the games to have a more fresh perspective on them, since it has literally been so long since i’ve played – for example – One Piece Grand Battle on the PS2.

I did plan this before any concrete date for the second season of the Netflix live action One Piece series, as in, anything aside from a generic “sometimes in 2025”, though that was before the Chopper reveal that also pushed Season 2 to Summer 2026, so…

Initially i was planning to replay and re-review World Seeker (i did review that years ago, alongside the DLCs as they came out), but educational woes (thesis time again) are bigger than before, so i had to axe it (alongside the review for One Piece: Gigant Battle on DS and One Piece Round The Land for PS2) we’ll do that next year, i guess. Sorry.

I will have a review of the Demon Slayer: Hinokami Chronicles game as a “fix”, though, and hopefully some movie reviews to fill these unexpected holes in the schedule.

Also, expect an article when the new wave of Pirate Warriors 4 DLC characters (yes, more) is announced on One Piece Day, as in August 8th!
